● Observed Terminal Error / Stack Trace

Error: await fetchDatabaseConnection() - Error: Connection pool exhausted

    at async renderPage (/app/node_modules/next/dist/next-server/lib/utils.js:59:15)

Root Cause Analysis

The issue arises from a mismatch between the database connection pool size and the number of concurrent requests handled by the Next.js application running on Docker. As the application scales, the default database connection pool size is exhausted, leading to a shortage of available connections and causing the application to hang or throw errors. This is exacerbated by the fact that Docker containers may be spun up or down rapidly, leading to unpredictable demand on the database connection pool.
